Keep your Spear Sharp.
I recently attended the funeral of a beloved friends husband. I had few interactions with him but I knew a few things to be true. He was a lovely person whose love and dedication to his children shone through for everyone to see. It was actually the first thing I noticed about him actually. His adult children ADORED him, and he them. Out loud and whole heartedly in this gentle sort of way. It was as clear as day. I looked to him and his wife as examples of the kind of parent and human I am learning to be every day.
At the root of it all, all we have is each other. To quote the lyrics from one of my favorite songs titled Isencane Lengane, “Kulikhun'emendweni” , which means: the spear is sharpened in the inner chamber. Which suggests that the strength of the community comes from their inner resources and dedication.
Rest Well Papa D, your spear was sharp, and your family will carry it on with love.
Rootin’ Tootingly yours,
Farai
